Laser inscribed curly redwood with a drawing of a giant redwood.
Art name: Sequoia Semperviren |
$1050. This striking curly redwood has an iridescent glow and shimmers. The curly stripes within reflect and dance with the light. It is 50" long,18" wide and 2.5" thick. It has been laser inscribed with a drawing of a giant redwood 'Sequoia Semperviren' found in the northern California coastal forests. This artwork was a team effort from master burl finisher now laser tech artist Adam Dias (DiasArts.com) and illustrator Kim Reid (KimARTandDesign.com). This art is part of a limited edition release. This curly wood is from salvage due to windfall. No tree was deliberately killed for the making of this art. In Latin, Semperviren means 'forever living. This initial drawing was done from the artist Kim Reid's imagination and experience to capture an old time feel and the gigantic stature of a 2000 year old Sequoia. The ink drawing took many months. It is estimated that only one in every 2500 redwood trees produce a burl and curly burls are even more rare. The artist feels Humboldt, Mendocino and Del Norte are the most beautiful areas in the Pacific Northwest. Hiking experiences in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park encouraged her to relocate to these ancient forests near the Avenue of the Giants. The pen and ink drawing that was used for this laser art can be viewed here: KimARTandDesign.com/preview-Tall-Tree-Pen-Ink.htm |
